Designers tackle the challenge of creating scrubs for the 21st Century

Nurses experience more traumatic events in a week than most people will see in a lifetime.  With the rapid growth of the aging population and shortage of caregivers, nurses are increasingly being asked to do more, with less.

In the future, the traditional attire and accessories that are commonplace today will have to evolve to empower caregivers with 21st Century tools.  The NXT Caregiver 2020 Competition, sponsored by Milliken and Healing Hands, challenges fashion designers to create concepts for a set of next-generation healthcare garments, including male and female scrub set and a unisex lab coat.
